Electric gates spend their whole lives outside, opening and closing in all weathers. A yearly service catches the small things – a worn hinge, a dirty sensor, a tired battery – before they leave you with a gate that won't move. It also keeps the safety devices doing their job.

How often
Once a year for most homes. Busy commercial and shared gates usually need a service every three to six months. See how often should electric gates be serviced?
Businesses and shared gates
At workplaces, car parks and apartment developments, whoever controls the site has a legal duty to keep the gate maintained and safe under the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978. Regular servicing with written records is the simplest way to show it's being done. See maintenance contracts.
New to the gate?
If you've moved into a house with electric gates or taken over a site, I can inspect the system and give you a written report on its condition and safety. See gate inspections and reports.
Looking after it yourself
Keeping photocells clean and the track clear goes a long way. See simple gate care you can do yourself and looking after your gates through the winter.

Questions people ask me
How much is a service?
It depends on the type and number of gates. Call me for a price.
Will you service a gate you didn't fit?
Yes, all the major brands.
Do I have to get my gate serviced?
For workplace and shared gates, keeping them maintained is a legal duty. For homes it isn't, but it's the best way to keep the gate safe.
What if you find a safety problem?
I'll explain it and price the fix. If the gate isn't safe to use, I'll tell you straight.
