Your driveway gates are the first thing people see of your home. They should suit the house, stand up to the weather and open every time you press the button. I supply the gates, fit the motors, do the groundwork and electrics, and test the lot, so there's one person responsible for the whole job.

Three materials, three looks
Wrought iron – from £2,000. Strong, secure and timeless. Works as well on a Georgian town house as on a modern build, and can be made as plain or as ornate as you like. See wrought iron gates.
Composite – from £2,200. The look of timber without the rot, warping or yearly staining. A good choice if you want privacy and low upkeep. See composite gates.
Wood – from £1,600. Warm and traditional, and right at home on a farmhouse or country property. Needs a bit of care, but nothing beats real timber for character. See wooden gates.
Still deciding? My comparison of gate materials sets out how each one wears over the years, and gate designs shows the styles.
Motors to match
- Overground from £1,800 – the most common choice for swing gates.
- Underground from around £2,400 – hidden under the gate for a clean entrance.
- Sliding from £1,400 – ideal where the drive is short or slopes up behind the gate. See sliding electric gates.
I fit DEA System motors, and Fadini hydraulics on heavy gates.

What I check before I quote
The width of the opening, the slope of the drive, how strong the pillars are, where the power will come from, and whether a car can pull off the road safely while the gates open. All of it is in my gate planning checklist. Most gates don't need planning permission, but see do you need planning permission for electric gates? if you're unsure.
Safe around children, pets and cars
Photocells and the right safety devices go on every driveway gate I automate, and every one is force tested to BS EN 12453. See gate safety and the law.
Start with a couple of photos
Send me a photo of your entrance from the road and one from the drive, and I'll give you a rough idea of cost before coming out to measure. Call, text or WhatsApp Adrian on 07855 781433.
Questions people ask me
How much are electric driveway gates?
Gates from £1,600 (wood), £2,000 (wrought iron) or £2,200 (composite), plus automation from £1,400. See the full cost guide.
What works on a sloping drive?
Usually a sliding gate, or swing gates on rising hinges. I'll look at the slope before recommending anything.
Inwards or outwards?
Inwards in almost every case, so the gates never swing over the footpath or road.
Do I deal with more than one company?
No. I supply, fit and automate the gates, so it's one person from start to finish.
